Construction, which included new sidewalks and improvements to adjacent streetscapes and public spaces, was completed on time and under-budget. A skillfully-implemented design/build process enabled timely delivery of many challenging and unique elements of the project. Use of a cutting-edge Building Information Modeling system helped the team anticipate and avoid design and construction delays.
The project site was once home to RAND Corporation HQ, and then used as an overflow parking lot after RAND moved to its new offices just down the road.
One of the more challenging aspects of preparing the site for construction was safe relocation of existing trees, including a trio of ficus affectionately known as 'the three amigos'
